Longarm
Quilting

At Sew and Sews, we’re here to help you finish your quilt with our professional longarm quilting services. Whether you’re an experienced quilter or just starting out, we’ll help your project turn out beautifully.

Our Pricing
& Timeline
Our quilting price is 1.9 cents per square inch. The standard turnaround time for longarm quilting is approximately three weeks, but if you need your quilt finished sooner, we offer a rush service for an additional $45.00. This option allows us to complete your quilt quickly without compromising on quality.
Batting

We provide batting for all quilts that we longarm in our shop at a reasonable price. The cost of batting is calculated by the yard and the type of batting you choose.
Batting is available in two high-quality options: a 50/50 Bamboo/Cotton blend and an 80/20 Cotton/Polyester blend.
Binding

If you’d like us to bind your quilt, we’re happy to provide this service. We offer machine binding only and ask that your binding be 2.5 inches wide, straight cut, and made from quilting cottons.
You’re welcome to either make your own binding or provide pre-made binding from a store. As long as it meets these specifications, we’ll take care of the rest.
Preparing Your Quilt
We’re easy to work with and can handle just about anything we receive, but preparing your quilt properly helps us achieve the best results. We only return quilts prior to quilting if the seams along the border or ends are open. Otherwise, we’ll work with what you provide to create a beautiful finished quilt.

Pressing Your Quilt Top and Backing
Pressing your quilt top is the most important thing you can do to prevent mistakes or wrinkles. When pressing, pay close attention to the seams, points, and corners, making sure they lie as flat as possible without the front fabric folding in on itself.
From the front, press it so that the fabric does not overlap near the seams and look for any open areas where the seams have come undone, leaving a hole or opened seam.
From the back, press the seams, corners, and points as flat as you can. We don’t have a preference on whether you press your seams open or to the side, so you can choose the method that works best for you.
Backing Size Guidelines
To achieve the best results, the quilt backing should be at least four inches larger on all sides than your quilt top. For example, if your quilt top measures 60 x 80 inches, the backing should be a minimum of 68 x 88 inches.
While we don’t expect exact measurements, having at least an extra eight inches helps the quilting process go smoothly. Any extra fabric left over after quilting will be returned to you.
Get Started!
When you’re ready to get started, you can complete our longarm request form or bring your quilt directly to the shop.
If you’re interested in a price estimate, we’re happy to provide one, but please note that we can only give an exact price after evaluating the quilt in person.
